Get to know me

I was born and raised in Cambridge and grew up on Willis St. I graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in 1991, where I was the Junior and Senior Class President. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College majoring in Biology and Environmental Studies. I was later accepted into the Master’s degree program for Information Systems at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where I completed coursework and began my career in Internet technology.

After 10 years, I eagerly moved back to the Eastern Shore because I missed the close-knit community, the Choptank river, and the only traffic inconvenience being the Cambridge Creek bridge going up!  I spend my days getting high speed internet to all corners of the Eastern Shore. I am part of the leadership team at Bay Country Communications, serve on the board of the Maryland Broadband Cooperative and was appointed by Governor Hogan to the Task Force for Rural Broadband.  I am also a member of the board of directors of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, which is responsible for the redevelopment of the Phillips Packing House, Smokestacks, Cannery Park, and Cambridge’s first Rails-to-Trails.  I have enjoyed volunteering and donating my time, energy, resources, and skills to our community for the past 15 years. My efforts to make a difference have included everything from assembling teams to plant trees, cleaning streets, growing oysters, building bike paths through my non-profit Choptank Heritage Trail, restoring old buildings, and leading the New Years Eve Boat Drop.  It's an honor to have been named volunteer of the year for both Cambridge Main Street and the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce.

I’ve been working behind the scenes for many years and am prepared and excited to come to the forefront to work with local leadership to focus on urban revitalization initiatives that make Cambridge a desirable place to invest, live, work, and play.  That means celebrating and emphasizing our unique history, culture, and niche economy. I will embrace, advocate and cultivate the ambitious citizens, businesses, and organizations that are working towards these goals.

Together. We. Thrive.
